About This Guide

An independent training course on Toast POS — who teaches it, what it covers, and what it is not.

This is an independent educational course. We are not Toast, Inc. It is published by Toast Info and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by, or an authorised reseller for Toast, Inc. We cannot access, change or support your account with them.

If you need help with your own system, contact your vendor directly. “Toast” and related marks belong to Toast, Inc. and are used here only to identify the product the course teaches.

Who teaches it

I specialise in studying and working with restaurant point-of-sale systems, including Toast POS. The course is built on practical experience, the vendor’s official documentation, and real situations that come up in working restaurants — not on a feature list.

The aim is plain language. Most people learning a POS are doing it between shifts, under time pressure, and need to be confident on the floor quickly rather than exhaustively informed.

What the course covers

  • Finding your way around the interface — what lives where, and why the layout is arranged the way it is.
  • Setting up menus and employee accounts — item structure, modifiers, roles, permissions and the decisions that are hard to unpick later.
  • Taking orders and payments — the order lifecycle end to end, coursing, splitting checks, voids, comps and discounts.
  • Reading reports — which ones matter daily, which weekly, and what a discrepancy usually turns out to be.
  • Running the operation — closing procedure, tips, batches, and keeping the numbers honest.
  • Solving common problems — outages, printers, card readers, and misrouted tickets, in order of how often they happen.

This is a paid course

The guides published on this site are free to read. The structured course is a paid product for restaurant owners, general managers and shift leads who need to train a team rather than learn alone.

[ADD PRICE AND FORMAT HERE: what the course costs, how it is delivered — video, live sessions, self-paced — how long it takes, and what happens after someone enquires. Say plainly if there is a refund policy.]

To ask about enrolment, use the contact form. Submitting it does not commit you to anything — we reply by email within two business days.

How the content is made

  • Concepts, not screenshots. We describe how the work is structured rather than documenting one software version, because interfaces change and screenshots go stale within a release or two.
  • Verify before you train. Exact screen names and menu paths vary by configuration. Check against your own account first — every page here says so.
  • No vendor interface reproduced. We do not republish vendor screenshots, branding, or documentation.
  • Corrections welcome. If something here is wrong or out of date, tell us and we will fix it.

What this is not

Not vendor support. Not a certification recognised by Toast, Inc. Not accounting, tax, legal or employment advice. Decisions about tax treatment, tip handling and payroll should be confirmed with a qualified professional in your jurisdiction. The full position is in our Terms of Use.
